Warren NSW

Warren in NSW is a quiet town on the Macquarie River which promotes itself as the ‘Wool and Cotton Capital’.

There is something charmingly old world about the central area of Warren. While there are not a lot of genuinely old buildings (there was a major fire in 1899) the town has an interesting, early 20th century feel to it. This is created by some of the buildings in Dubbo Street, Burton Street and Lawson Street.

Prominent buildings include the Club House Hotel (1901) and Royal Hotel (1900) which stand opposite each other in Dubbo Street.

The Red River Gum Walk

This walk begins near Burton Street in Macquarie Park. The Walk Trail guides you around the riverbank to a river red gun tree. When walking further down the river stream you will also find where stock wagons used to cross onto a gravel bar when the river water down stream was low. This process was used until the first bridge in Warren was built in 1875.

The Warren Historical and Family History Society offers free walking tours by appointment. Please contact 02 6847 6665.

Water Tower Art in Warren NSW

The idea behind the mural on the water tank in Warren is to represent the sports that are available in the new Carter Oval Youth Sports Precinct. The sports being featured are Cricket, Soccer, Swimming and Skateboarding. The sports facility is currently in the progress of being constructed (2023).

The Warren Agricultural Show

The Warren Agricultural Show is a one-day event held at the well-maintained Warren Racecourse, in the Central West Slopes and Plains of New South Wales. It is held in June of each year.

The show promotes agriculture and showcases the talents of local people who display their exhibits and compete in events. We also provide plenty of family entertainment and excitement, as well as a great variety of sideshows and rides for all ages.

Other events include the quick shear, lawn mower races, sideshow alley, junior judging, pet show, baby show, whip cracking, wife carrying and the fiercely contested tug of war.
