Cataract Gorge, Launceston, Tasmania
The Cataract Gorge is a river gorge in Launceston, Tasmania, approximately 1.5 km – 15 minutes walk, from the city centre. It is one of the region’s premier tourist attractions and Launceston’s own piece of wilderness. Here you’ll find walking and hiking trails, the world’s longest single-span chairlift, swimming pool, restaurant, kiosk and cafe. There are also peacocks and wildlife, beautiful gardens, a suspension bridge and an inclinator for easy access. Also on-site is an Interpretation Centre and panoramic lookouts with spectacular views.
