Bowali Visitor Centre

Bowali Visitor Centre, NT. Country Airstrips Australia. A popular attractions in Jabiru.

One of the most popular attractions in Jabiru is the Bowali Visitor Centre. Named after the Bowali Creek which flows nearby, the centre’s long linear design was inspired by an Aboriginal Rock Shelter. The Bowali Visitor Centre contains a wealth of information about Kakadu.

Park staff are available to provide information to you. Videos, displays and a library are also available to assist you in planning your visit.

The Marrawuddi Gallery stocks Aboriginal arts and crafts, books and gifts. Refreshments are available from the Anmak An-me Cafe.
Opening hours: 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Allow a few hours to explore the centre and learn a little more about Kakadu.

“Our Land Is Our Life” The people from Murumburr, Mirrar Gun-djeihmi, Badmardi, Bunitj, Girrimbitjba, Manilakarr, Wargol and other clans have combined to create an exciting and memorable exhibit.

“Come Look and Feel Our Culture” The Aboriginal traditional land owners (Bininj) of Kakadu National Park have wanted to tell the story about their culture for a long time. Through the displays and exhibitions you can gain an understanding of the Bininj and their country.

Warradjan Gallery After you have journeyed through the display and explored the many facets of Bininj Culture, you can browse through a gallery of arts and crafts from Kakadu, Arnhem Land and Katherine regions, displayed for sale.

The majority of artworks are produced by local artists of this country.

Warradjan Gift Shop
The Warradjan Gift Shop has a wonderful selection of quality merchandise, all locally produced. Choose a unique gift for yourself or friends from Aboriginal crafts, bark paintings and artworks, to t-shirts, books, and traditional music. Warradjan Cultural Centre is one of the few exclusive establishments selling Senses Of Kakadu CD, a collection of music and songs performed during the festival. It includes the song “Senses of Kakadu”, performed and written by Shellie Morris, telling a story of seasonal changes highlighted in the Indigenous Calendar of the Gagudju People of Kakadu National Park.

The centre’s large display, developed by Bininj/Mungguy, provides detailed information about Aboriginal culture in Kakadu. There is also a video room and gallery that sells arts and crafts, books, cards and light refreshments.
