Caboolture War Plane Museum

Attractions in Caboolture - the War Plane Museum

One of the great attractions in Caboolture is the War Plane Museum. Situated on the Perimeter of Caboolture Airfield we house historical artifacts and classic flight-ready aircraft from Australia’s aviation past.

Our SNJ-4 and Mustang P51D take pride of place. Lovingly restored and maintained they both offer adventure flights for a unique, thrilling and increasingly rare experience. Please note the Mustang is currently away on duties, we will advise when it returns.

Len Waters Memorial Display

An Indigenous Australian who was working as a shearer in Outback Queensland

Before the outbreak of the Second World War, Len became a fighter pilot. His quote regarding the Air Force – ‘There was no colour in the Air-force, only blue’.

Gypsy Moth Display

This aircraft was piloted by Captain Charles Kennedy Scott in 1931 and set a world flight record from London to Darwin of 9 days, 4 hours and 11 minutes. This broke an earlier record set by fellow aviator, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, by 19 hours.

Tavas Early Aviation Museum

Tavas Early Aviation Museum QLD

TAVAS Early Aviation Museum is the only museum in Australia to focus on people and aircraft from the first 30 years of powered flight.

The Australian Vintage Aviation Society commemorates the pilots and planes from the first 30 years of powered flight – especially the world-changing trainers and fighters of World War One.

Aircraft had a profound influence on the outcome of the Great War, and the men who flew them would go on to pioneer the entire spectrum of air services and infrastructure we have today. In both war and in peace, many paid with their lives.

We think the best way to repay them is by giving their memory wings.

Our magnificent flying machines are complemented by a genuine 100-year-old engine that still flies, a wall commemorating every Australian Great War ace, and an area for kids to play while you take in the art and science of our early aeroplanes.

Enjoy a casual visit, organise a group tour, or arrange an incredible setting for your special event…
There is nowhere quite like it.

TAVAS was founded as a flying tribute to the pilots who braved war, weather and distance to make Australian aviation what it is today.
