Special Procedures and Comments: CTAF 118.1

The strip can be hard to see if you are not familiar with the area. There are cones marking the runway and two windsocks to look for. There is a silo about a mile north of the strip, and to the south the Rocks Ferry bridge and the adjacent large white house are good landmarks.

The northernmost 1/3 of the strip has a significant upslope, so preferred runway for landing is 35 and for takeoff is 17.

After rain the sides of the runway at the southern end can be soft. Keep to the centre and if landing on 17 go all the way to the hard turning circle at the end before doing a 180.

Noise abatement: We have a few noise-sensitive neighbours. Circuit height is 1000′; downwind leg for 35 should be on the western side of the railway line.

No touch-and-goes or low-level circuits permitted.

Please avoid overflying the area west of the airstrip and east of the railway line if possible, and never below 1000’.

The station lies 36 kilometres from the magnificent Kings Canyon (Watarrka) and is set amongst majestic desert oaks.

Kings Creek Station is a cattle station with a range of accommodation options from camping to luxury tents.

The station is the largest exporter of wild camels in Australia and sells camels for live export, live domestic sales and meat.

Hutton Vale Farm Airstrip in South Australia is nestled in the picturesque hills of Eden Valley. This private airfield is available for aircraft to land right in between the Mount Edelstone and the Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz vineyards.

The Hutton Vale Farm airfield is a grass airstrip with two runways at an elevation of 1240ft. The primary runway has reasonably good approaches, the cross strip (09-27) is a little over 800m but undulating with difficult approaches (high ground and trees). Please exercise caution.

The airfield is available for private and charter operations; prior notification is required. A loan car is available for fly in guests at $50 per day + fuel for exploring the Barossa region. Short or long-term aircraft hangarage may be available.

Stay at the Hutton Vale Farm Hutch Hilton or the J.H.A. Stone Cellar.
