It\u2019s also a walkable one km from town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The village of Louth (don\u2019t blink, warn the 30 locals) is situated on the banks of the Darling River 100km SW of Bourke and 132km NW of Cobar. It is often referred to as &nbsp;&#8216;Louth on the Darling&#8217; as it sits on the banks of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/darlingriver.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Darling River (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">Darling River<\/a><\/strong> in western New South Wales.&nbsp; But on a particular Saturday in early August every year, things hot up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The local races, the Louth Races, is a very popular event, particularly for pilots who choose to fly in for the colourful event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" data-src=\"https:\/\/countryairstrips.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/LouthAirfieldRunwayNSW.jpg\" alt=\"Louth Airfield Runway.
